Business Plan

Our activities and finances 2019–2020

Welcome to our Business Plan for 2019/20, this sets out what we plan to achieve over the coming year. It forms the third year of our Corporate Plan to 2022. The Business Plan is a step in developing a new way of working; planning and collaboratively aiming for common goals following 2 key pieces of legislation namely The Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 and The Environment (Wales) Act 2016. As well as our ongoing role there are ten priorities that represent the most specific pieces of work we will tackle in 2019/20. All our priorities will be funded to achieve the ambition set out in this Business Plan:

  • Developing NRW
  • Delivering Area Statements
  • State of Natural Resources Report
  • Responding to the UK leaving the European Union
  • Improving health and wellbeing
  • Sustainable Management of Water
  • Future management of land we manage and collaborate on with others
  • Reversing the decline in biodiversity
  • Tackle illegal waste activity
  • Facilitate the uptake of renewable energy and decarbonisation

Our Purpose

Pursuing and applying sustainable management of natural resources, is our focus. Our State of Natural Resources Report (SoNaRR), identifies some of the challenges and the opportunities we now have. To address the opportunities for managing natural resources sustainably so that wellbeing can be increased, and in adopting the principles of sustainable management of natural resources to the way we work, we have developed our first set of Well-being Objectives. Starting with involving our stakeholders, internally and externally, we have considered how we can collaborate with our partners and integrate our objectives with others and across the Well-being Goals. This will help us to ensure our activities will prevent the SoNaRR challenges getting worse in the long term.
