About the placement
What will you do
- Introduction to Finance and Grant management
- Site visit to a Wales Coastal Path in Carmarthenshire
- Learn the role of a Woodland Advisor: Assessing the suitability of sites for tree planting
- A flood defence site visit near Llandovery. Look at how using engineering, and natural assets to prevent flooding of homes and communities
- Site visit and Wellbeing Walk, Talley Woods
- A talk about how we manage our recreational resources
- Please feel free to ask questions throughout the week, so you can get the most out of your experience with us, gaining skills and knowledge along the way. There is no such thing as a silly question.
Who will you be working with
- You will be working with a NRW staff from 3 different teams throughout the course of the week. Each of these staff have different backgrounds and expertise in land management, woodland creation and assets/flood defence.
Where will you be working
- You will be split between office based and working outdoors including travel to agricultural holdings, forestry environments, coastal paths and more urban areas. The planned site visits will be undertaken in relatively close proximity to the office, within the counties of Carmarthenshire and Powys.
What other information is relevant to the placement
- You will be able to take refreshment and toilet breaks on a regular basis throughout the working day.
- Suitable clothing & PPE required (and sun cream/cap depending on weather forecast)
- Please bring a packed lunch
