Register or deregister your polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) equipment
By 31 July each year you must register or deregister any equipment in Wales that fits the legal definition of PCB contaminated equipment.
Register PCB equipment
You need to give us:
- an up to date list of PCB contaminated equipment you are responsible for
- address and grid reference for where the equipment is sited
- exact location of equipment within the site
- quantity of substance
- substance concentration
- type of equipment
- unique reference or serial number
- a document outlining your PCB contaminated equipment disposal plans
Deregister your PCB equipment
You need to:
- tell us any disposal method
- show that all PCB contaminated fluid was removed from the equipment. If this is not possible, we may ask you to sample the new fluid in the equipment to show it has not become contaminated by residual PCB containing fluid
- provide details of any new site owners
- let us know where any PCB has been moved to and what your intentions with it are
- type of equipment
- unique reference or serial number
- a document outlining your PCB contaminated equipment disposal plans
You need to give us evidence to support deregistration, for example:
- hazardous waste consignment notes
- laboratory reports for equipment which show it to have a PCB concentration less than 0.0005% weight for weight
- new owner documentation, including contact details
There is no fee to deregister PCB contaminated equipment.
